Your Yoga Instructor
Karen Flagg Karen began practicing yoga in January 1990 and completed a yoga teacher training program in December 1998. She has practiced many forms of yoga including Iyengar Yoga, Integral Yoga, Anusara Yoga, Flow Style Yoga, Ashtanga Yoga, Power Yoga and Raja Yoga. Her teaching style is a blend of these. Karen continues to educate herself and deepen her personal yoga practice. She has traveled to workshops given by nationally acclaimed teachers such as Rodney Yee, Dean Learner and John Friend. Karen also attends classes and workshops taught by Atlanta instructors including Roger Gatlin, Steve Jacobson and Adele Gale (before Adele moved to Maine). In September 2000 she attended the Yoga Journal/Omega Institute conference in New York City where she took workshops and classes taught by Garrett Sarley, Ila Sarley Patricia Walden, Baron Baptiste, Sharon Gannon, David Life, Rodney Yee and John Schumacher. In October 2001 she attended a 5-day advanced workshop taught by Rodney Yee in Tennessee. In March 2002 Karen completed David Swenson's 40 hour Ashtanga Primary Series teacher training course and the Ashtanga class she offers follows the traditional Ashtanga sequence. On August 19, 2007 Karen Flagg completed a teacher training program called "Teaching Adaptive Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis." The workshop was taught by Karen O'Donnell Clarke, of Ledyard, Connecticut who has MS and has been teaching yoga since 1996. Karen completed four workshops in Thai massage in 2008 taught by Dr. Camden Clay. In April 2009 Karen completed a three day "Silver Sneakers" workshop on senior citizen fitness and completed CPR certification in May. Karen graduated on May 9, 2009 with a Master's Degree in Religious Studies from Georgia State University. Her courses included Augustine & Aquinas, Hinduism, Buddhism, Zen & Shinto, Taoism & Confucianism, Women in Islam and Rabbinic Literature & Kabbalah.
