Description of Yoga Classes:

"SilverSneakers MSROM"  Muscular Strength Range of Motion (MSROM) class includes stretching, strengthening and a cardio workout.  The entire class can be done seated, but optional portions are standing.  We use hand-held weights, exercise bands and small exercise balls.  We have the props at the Senior Center.  You don't have to bring anything - just yourself and a great attitude!  OK, you are supposed to bring a bottle of water to drink during class, but if you forget, there is always a pitcher of ice water in the Senior Center kitchen.  Come try a class!!!

Adaptive Yoga/"SilverSneakers YogaStretch"/Chair Yoga  Adaptive yoga is a designed for people with less mobility such as knee or hip problems.  This class is done in a chair with a few standing postures.  It is a gentle class and an excellent introduction to yoga stretches.  The adaptive class tailors the yoga poses to the individual's ability.  You don't have to take off your shoes for this class, but most people do take their shoes off and wear socks.  You don't have to bring anything for this class except a bottle of water to drink during class, but if you forget, there is always a pitcher of ice water in the Senior Center kitchen.  Come try a class and relax with us!

Senior Yoga  Senior yoga is a specialized class designed for people over 55.  The class includes strengthening, stretching, balance poses and relaxation. T his class is done barefoot, however, some people wear socks.  This class includes floor work, so please bring your own yoga mat. The hardwood floor is just that - hard!  So a thicker yoga mat is best, or bring two and stack them one on the other for comfort.  For the relaxation portion you can bring an eye pillow to cover your eyes.  Each student is encouraged to challenge his or herself, but never to strain.  Come try a class and experience the myriad of benefits of practicing yoga!!!
