What Students Say about the Yoga Classes

I began taking yoga classes in Jan 2003 after having surgery. I have a history of insomnia and headaches. I noticed an improvement in both the headaches and insomnia after a few months. A few months later both ailments were gone. Recently Karen was out of town and I did very little yoga. Suddenly I was not sleeping and I had 3 headaches. I realized yoga is the key. Thanks Karen.

Tammy, age 37, Speech Language Pathologist

I have to admit, I had misgivings about taking yoga classes. I had visions of meeting people who spoke in unnaturally soft voices, gloating over their spiritual superiority and looking down their nose at any perceived flaws in my lifestyle / diet / beliefs. This is not at all what you will find at Karen Flagg's classes. Instead, there is a friendly, easy-going environment where everyone is welcomed and supported. The yoga is GREAT -- I'm hooked! Between the yoga classes and water aerobics, my osteoarthritis is under control and I no longer need medication. Karen is a wonderful instructor who gives clear instructions and guidance, at the same time providing an atmosphere where students do not feel pressured to perform beyond their abilities.

Debora

I have fibromyalgia and arthritis.  After 12 weeks of yoga I halved my pain medication!

Ann, age 53, Hair Stylist

Having suffered with back pain for 20 years, I wasn't sure I would be able to manage yoga classes. Not only has the yoga strengthened my back and increased its flexibility, but I have learned many coping techniques such as stretches and breathing techniques to do during those "cranky" back times!

Maribeth, age 38, Environmental Educator

I don't know where to begin,.....First I have to say I am new to yoga. I wanted to do something for myself and it looks like I may have stumbled onto something that may change the rest of my life. The results are overwhelming physically and emotionally. You're a great instructor!!!!  It's ironic that the most important lessons we have yet to learn, are so often the oldest ones ever taught.  Thanks.

Anita, Aerobics Instructor

I've been taking yoga classes from Karen Flagg for almost four years now.  Prior to beginning yoga, I visited a chiropractor 2-3 times per week.  Now, I only go once every two months or so.  Yoga helped me uncover some extremity problems, e.g. wrists and shoulders, which, once identified, were quickly addressed by my chiropractor.  As a result I'm almost pain-free and when I have pain I know how to use yoga to literally get rid of it.  Karen is a fantastic teacher.  She has taught me the fundamentals involving breathing and how to work a pose.  This has enabled me to practice yoga at a level that challenges me no matter how I'm feeling on any given day.  I have NEVER not practiced because I'm tired.  Breathing and relaxing in poses even when I am working hard makes me feel like I've had a full night's sleep!  Thanks Karen for helping me find my inner center - I use it every day!  I feel 25 every day!

Debbie, age 39, Web Designer and Musician

I always feel great after each class.  It has helped my flexibility and lower back pain.

Bob, age 45, Human Resource Manager

Very gentle beginner class. Facility is top rate and the environment is soothing and peaceful. Plenty of room. Karen is thorough in her instruction. She is always happy and readily available to answer any questions or be of assistance. All in all, it's a complete joy to attend this yoga class! Thanks for being in D-ville.

Debra, age 44

I am more gentle with the way I approach my life since yoga.  As I continue yoga into my second year I see more and more positive energies coming into my life.  I am progressing with each class.

Sandy, Physical Therapist & New Mom

I am here for the "mind stuff". Practicing yoga helps me find the "center" in my life. And, it helps me to prioritize and slow down a bit... to find something meaningful in every day. I can't discount the exercise part - it's very beneficial - but, for me, it's overwhelmingly about the mind.
