Description of Yoga Classes

 

Each class is one hour and fifteen minutes except for the full-length Ashtanga class which is 90 minutes.

The Basics - Beginner Yoga Class  6-week class  Pictures

This class is great for those who are new to yoga.  The same sequence of basic yoga postures, yogic breathing techniques and relaxation will be followed each class.  The repetition prevents new students from becoming overwhelmed and allows them to become very familiar with about fifteen poses.  Handouts describing each of the yoga poses will aid home practice.  

 

Beginner-level Yoga Class  6-week class 

This gentle yoga class is beginner level but the poses will change each class and the focus will be on relaxation.

 

Multi-level Yoga Class  6-week class

This class includes both beginner and intermediate variations of each yoga pose taught.  All levels of ability are welcome.

 

Ashtanga Yoga Class  6-week class Ashtanga Yoga

This challenging 90 minute class consists of a flowing series of poses as taught by Pattabhi Jois of Mysore, India.  (The ashtanga class is currently one hour and fifteen minutes.)  Your first class you stop halfway through the class, rest and join us for the last three poses.  Each class after that you add more poses as you are able.  Please bring your own towel, you will sweat!  

 

Intermediate Yoga Class  6-week class  Pictures

This class covers yoga poses and their variations more in depth than the other classes and includes challenging poses and the poses are held longer to further increase strength, balance and flexibility.  Previous experience with yoga is necessary for this class.

 

Yoga Ball Class  6-week class

This multilevel class includes the yoga ball as a prop.  Please bring your own yoga ball, but don't worry if you do not have one, there will be a variation given for each pose without the ball.  Please call for information on what size yoga ball you need and where to purchase one.

 

How much? The cost for any six week class is $50.

The Drop-in fee is $10 per class.

Description of Workshops

1 Yoga Ball Workshop  90 minute workshop

This multilevel workshop focuses on the yoga ball as a prop.  Please bring your own yoga ball.  Check the size of your yoga ball.  It is the correct size for your body if your thighs are parallel to the floor when you are sitting on the ball.

2 Partner Yoga Workshop  90 minute workshop

This multilevel workshop focuses on poses done with a partner.  Partners will stretch together and assist each other in the yoga poses.

3 Restorative Yoga Workshop 90 minute workshop

This workshop focuses on the art of relaxation and stress reduction.  This workshop is good for beginners and anyone who has stress in their lives.
